Plastic Sonnet 30

what is your intended income light

is it temple scale

because I have a small soul

& no interest in irony

my ideal growth dilates

joy to some glory

that can be packed into convenient jars

& put away for nest egg capital

put away out of sight

from my pale face brutal

This poem is from a series centered on Elizabeth Barrett Browning’s Sonnets from the Portuguese, rewriting them through making them plastic source texts.
